This study conducts an empirical assessment of inter-state disparities in the quality of India’s cross-regional school education. Covering all 36 states and union territories across the country, the study adopts the Performance Grading Index 2.0 for the 2022-2023 academic year, which categorizes 73 indicators into six major domains. The study employs descriptive statistics, comparative ranking, and Pearson correlation analysis to evaluate interstate disparities and domain-wise performance. The findings reveal that Equity, Access, and Teacher Education perform relatively well, whereas Learning Outcomes, Infrastructure, and Governance remain weaker dimensions. Chandigarh, Delhi, and Odisha emerge as the best-performing regions. Significant positive correlations among education domains highlight their interdependence. The study proposes that integrated policy interventions should be implemented to achieve balanced and sustainable improvement in education quality.
